Therefore, structures are needed to ensure their voices reach the places where decisions are made. The goal is real influence \u2013 not representation in itself. So, a child does not need to sit on the board to have influence. This role should not speak <em>for<\/em> children, but rather ensure that their own opinions are gathered, taken seriously, and weighed into decisions that affect them.    <\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><b>Purpose<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure that the voices of active members \u2013 especially children and youth \u2013 are heard and considered in the board&#8217;s decisions.
