Young people are given the responsibility to plan and lead portions of the training session. They select an exercise, explain the purpose, and oversee its execution.
How it works:
- On a rotating basis, a few young people at a time are tasked with preparing 10–15 minutes of the training session.
- They plan in advance, with support from the coach/leader. They talk through the purpose and how it will be carried out. It’s a good idea to plan ahead who will say what and to prepare for any potential challenges.
- During the session, they lead the exercise themselves, while the coach/leader can either participate actively or observe from the sidelines.
- Afterward, you reflect together on what went well and what they can take away for future consideration.
Tip: Remind them that we process information in different ways, so they should plan to accommodate as many people as possible and to allow for any questions.
