Background
This Club Day was developed based on an assessment conducted within the club in 2023–2024. The results showed that:
- Children and youth lack certain knowledge regarding their right to influence sports
- Children and youth are not aware of all the club’s sections/sports
- Children and youth perceive limited opportunities for influence in certain areas
Purpose and Structure
The Club Day is therefore designed to meet these needs by combining ‘try-out’ sports with educational components on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the club’s core values, and the participation of children and youth. This work is carried out in collaboration with Umeå University, Save the Children, and RF-SISU Västerbotten.
During the day, children and youth aged 7–13 will have the opportunity to try out various sports within the club. Participants are divided into groups that stay together throughout the day, ensuring everyone gets to try all sports. Between sessions, the groups pause their sports activities to learn more about their right to participate and influence their own sports. The purpose is to combine the joy of movement with knowledge and strengthen their belief in their own abilities, both as athletes and as important voices within the club and in their own lives.
