Voting Rights from Age 12 – RF-SISU’s Recommendation
The Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) and SISU Sports Education recommend that all sports associations grant children and young people voting rights from the age of 12 at annual general meetings and other association meetings. This is an important measure to strengthen the participation and influence of children and young people in sports. By granting children and young people voting rights, the association demonstrates that the opinions of young people are valuable. This recommendation is based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been Swedish law since 2020, and which stipulates that children have the right to be heard in matters concerning them (Article 12).
