Curious about trying out leading other groups? Providing young people with the opportunity to develop, take responsibility, and try new roles within the organization by allowing them to be leaders and support younger training groups.
How we do it:
- Identify young people who show interest in the coaching role or leadership role
- Invite them to participate in training sessions with younger training groups with simple and clear tasks. For example, assisting with exercises, encouraging and supporting, and providing simple feedback.
- Conclude with a brief reflection together about how they felt it went, whether it was enjoyable, and if there is interest in trying more times.
It strengthens both self-confidence, responsibility, and community—something that provides a safe introduction to the leadership role in sports.
