Build the team together, with community and participation as central pillars. By empowering young people to plan group-strengthening activities themselves, a stronger and more secure team spirit is fostered.
How it works:
- Set aside time to discuss: “What would make us feel more like a team/group?”, “How can we collectively create fun memories, experiences, and activities outside of training?”
- Form a “Team Activity Group” to plan suggested activities, and ideally, active members can take turns participating in this group. Activity suggestions could include a pizza night, bowling, swimming after practice, or perhaps a barbecue with rounders.
It can often be more important to focus on a team-building activity than yet another training session. Everyone should be included, for as long as possible, and a sense of belonging and having fun is crucial for this.
