Dialogue models

Participation is created through dialogue. Here are dialogue models that encourage courage, creativity, and joy.

Dialogue models

“Without dialogue – no democracy.”

To create participation, we need dialogue. Here you will find dialogue models that promote courage, creativity, and joy, and that foster a different conversational climate than traditional meeting forums. These models can be used at:

  • Training sessions
  • Kick-offs
  • Season finales
  • Board meetings
  • Leadership meetings
  • Parent meetings

The purpose is to learn together with others and create a deeper understanding of one another.

Points to consider

  • Conduct a playful introduction round if someone is new, or divide into small groups if there are many participants.
  • Appoint a person to take notes so that you can follow up on what is discussed.
  • Let everyone have their say, for example, by going around the room (it’s also okay to pass).
  • Adapt the approach to the group and its size.
  • Show respect for everyone’s thoughts – all opinions are of equal value.
  • Ask open-ended questions (how, where, when, why) instead of offering advice.
  • Encourage active participation, curiosity, and mutual support.
  • Summarize and document the conclusions reached.
  • Please send a brief summary and evaluation afterwards, for example via Google Forms or Mentimeter.
